► Introduction: Moonstone is the opalescent variety of Orthoclase, with a blue or white sheen or otherwise known as schiller. Schiller can resemble the shine of the moon. For those that are interested Moonstone has a monoclinic crystal system. The schiller present within this type of formation/structure is made up of alternating layers of Albite and Orthoclase feldspar.
